A New Zealand company has developed a fermentation process where bacteria convert carbon monoxide to ethanol. The carbon monoxide would come from industrial processes as in steel making. They started their work looking for a source other than corn and focused on high volume industrial waste. A good example of how problems are analyzed.
The company, Lanza Tech, is being financed by Khosa Ventures. Khosa was the co-founder of Sun-Microsytems and has about 8 alterative energy projects funded.
